Scott Stratten, marketing guru, sought-after business speaker and 1998 Sheridan Human Resources graduate has joined the elite ranks of Sheridan Faculty of Business graduates in the Sheridan Business Hall of Fame.
Formerly a music industry marketer, national sales training manager and a Professor at the Sheridan College Faculty of Business, Scott ran his UnAgency for nearly a decade before deciding to focus his efforts solely on speaking at events for companies looking for guidance through the viral/social media and relationship marketing landscape. His clients have included a broad cross section of influential organizations such as PepsiCo, Adobe, Red Cross, Cirque du Soleil, Saks Fifth Avenue and Fidelity Investments.
Scott was named one of the top 5 social media influencers in the world on Forbes.com. His book UnMarketing: Stop Marketing, Start Engaging became a national best-seller before it was released, and recently earned the number one spot on the Globe and Mail Business best-seller list.
Scott’s efforts have helped his clients develop and launch viral marketing videos that have so far been viewed over 60 million times. Scott has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, USA Today, Entrepreneur Magazine, CNN.com, Inc.com and Fast Company. He was recently recognized as one of “America’s 10 Marketing Gurus” by Business Review USA.
“Scott plugged into the power of social networking long before it was labeled as such. He had the ability to turn standard business practices up-side down. His inquisitive mind and determination gave him an education well beyond the Sheridan course curriculum. In the classroom, you never really knew which direction Scott would take; all you could count on is that it would be interesting and innovative,” said Laurie Kondo, Professor, Human Resources program.
Stratten was welcomed into the Sheridan Business Hall of Fame during the annual Faculty of Business Academic Awards event.
