Happy retirement – as Julie Blair takes her leave of the Sheridan School of Business

Members of the Sheridan School of Business wish Julie Blair well in her new retirement.

Julie Blair, Program Support Specialist, has taken her leave of the Sheridan School of Business to pursue other more relaxed activities.

Julie plans to travel, re-discover bridge, play more golf and generally fill her life with fun and adventure.  Everyone from the Sheridan School of Business bids Julie Blair a fun-filled and happy retirement. We’ll miss her contributions to the school and wish her well.

Rhonda Silver

Professor Rhonda Silver has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics for Commerce from York University and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University. For the past 20 years, Rhonda has been a successful entrepreneur. Rhonda began Hollend Furnishings and has grown it into a prosperous business with a wide and eclectic client base, including numerous corporate customers, as well as educational institutions such as school Boards, private schools, universities and colleges.

As an entrepreneur, Rhonda has been responsible for every aspect of business including: Marketing and Sales, Accounting, Human Resources, Design and Transportation. With such a wide range of abilities, Rhonda will be able to bring her work experiences and her expertise into the Sheridan School of Business classrooms.

Stan Kamzol

Professor Kamzol comes to the Sheridan School of Business after many years as a successful business consultant to clients in the resource, manufacturing, and innovative technology sectors, and as a successful communicator and college professor.  Stan holds a B.A. from the University of Waterloo, and a MBA from the IVEY School of Business, University of Western Ontario. Professor Kamzol’s business experience includes stints with oil, mining, energy, and hydro producers.

Maurizio Di Maio

Professor Maurizio Di Maio will teach in the Sheridan School of Business Accounting program. He has an MBA from Laurentian University, a bachelor’s degree from Ryerson University and is in good standing as a Certified General Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. Maurizio has taught at Ryerson University, Sheridan College, and George Brown College.  Maurizio also brings eight years of business experience mainly with Celestica.

Deborah Wolff

The Sheridan School of Business welcomes Professor Wolff who has has taught in the School since 2003.   Deborah holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Wilfred Laurier University and a MBA from Edinburgh Business School / Heriot-Watt University. Professor Wolff has taught Business Math, Statistics, and E-commerce courses for Sheridan and has extensive business experience in these areas.

Kathleen Bègin

Professor Kathleen Bègin has Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Bishop’s University and an MBA in IT Management from Athabasca University.

Her accounting background lead her into work related to financial and accounting systems, both within government and industry.  Her roles included hands on accounting, corporate training and project management.  She also taught at George Brown College for 3 semesters in Project Management and E-Commerce.

Netta Romano

Netta Romano

Professor Romano will teach in the Sheridan School of Business Paralegal program. Netta holds a B.A. History from York University, a B.L Law from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a B.Ed from York University.

Professor Romano has several years experience as corporate counsel to a major retailer, and practiced civil litigation focusing on the enforcement of banking securities, family law, employment law, and human rights in private practice. No stranger to Sheridan College, Netta has taught in the Sheridan School of Business Paralegal program for more than eight years.


Virox Future Forum set for February 2011 at Trafalgar Campus, Sheridan College

Broadcaster Lou Schizas and Randy Pilon CEO Virox Technologies Inc.

The third annual Virox Technologies Inc. Virox Future Forum is scheduled for Friday, February 11, 2011 at Sheridan College, Trafalgar campus in the SCAET Lecture Hall.

Broadcaster Lou Schizas has agreed to act as Master of Ceremonies and The Virox Future Forum confirmed speakers are Sean Wise and David Foot.

David Foot

One of the nation’s most outspoken and consistently controversial demographic experts, Professor David K. Foot has the distinction of being one of the few who can make the study of of the aging of society relevant to any specific interest group.

David K. Foot, Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Toronto, is the author of the best-selling books Boom Bust & Echo: How to Profit from the Coming Demographic Shift and the updated paperback, Boom Bust & Echo: Profiting from the Demographic Shift in the 21st Century. These books are based on his research on the economic impacts of demographic change and on the resulting implications for both private and public policies. His books have sold over 300,000 copies in Canada and were on the Canadian best-seller lists for over 3 years.

Sean Wise

Sean Wise brings experience and expertise to the Ted Rogers School of Management. Before receiving his Law and MBA degrees at the University of Ottawa, Wise studied Engineering and Economics at Carleton University. He is dedicated to training entrepreneurs and has succeeded in training more than 3000 people who have collectively raised more than $2.1 billion from different investment sources. Currently, Wise sits on the Boards of several young technology companies, as well as the Banff Venture Forum and the Toronto Venture Group. He helped found Ernst and Young’s Venture Capital Advisory Group and now undertakes selective engagements from young companies looking for strategic guidance on capital raising and growth through the person consultancy, Wise Mentor Capital.

This event is a great opportunity to practice your networking skills and ask those questions you haven’t had a chance to ask yet. The Sheridan School of Business Management Team, lead by Business Dean, Dr. Bill Holmes and Associate Deans, Jon Jones, Cindy Gillett, Jeremy Staples, and Neill Rob ask faculty, staff and students to forward their latest accomplishments to be celebrated in a new section of Briefly Speaking Biz called Kudos and Accomplishments.

Stories can be about almost anything that you recently accomplished that you think the college community should be aware of – newly minted degrees, speaking engagements, volunteer opportunities.  Don’t be shy – let’s all bask in the glory of our accomplishments!

Lucia Juhaszova, Program Support Specialst, School of Business.

Charlene Craddock, Operations Manager, Sheridan School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Lucia Juhaszova (loot-sia you-ha-so-va) to the postion of Program Support Specialist at the Trafalgar campus.

Lucia comes to Sheridan after working at Everest College in Toronto as Student Account coordinator.  Juhaszova is a graduate of the Business Marketing program at George Brown College, and also worked for CITYTV in the Chum Group of Companies.

“I am very thrilled to be part of the Sheridan School of Business and I look forward to helping our business students,” Juhaszova.


Jessica Hinchliffe moves to SCLS

Jessica Hinchliffe

Congratulations to Jessica Hinchliffe on her new position as Administrative Assistant in the School of Community and Liberal Studies. Jessica joined the Sheridan School of Business in February 2009.

In the short time she has been with us she has brought excitement and energy to the School. Jessica will be starting her new role on Monday, September 20th.

We will miss her but she won’t be too far away.


School of Business Mississauga City Centre Campus on track for September 2011 opening

The Mississauga City Centre campus is centrally located next to Square One and the Mississauga City Hall.

The Sheridan School of Business new Mississauga City Centre campus is on track to accept its first students for September 2011.  Incoming first year students for the Business Administration programs and students enrolled in the graduate certificate  programs will take up residence in the new campus starting September 2011.

Workers place the glass walls on the new Sheridan City Centre campus.

The new 156,000 sq ft campus features four floors of classrooms, a 21 foot high Living Wall, and will accommodate 1760 students in its first phase, and is built to LEED Gold Standard.

The new campus will offer a variety of full-time Business programs, as well as programs and services designed to help newcomers to Canada integrate into our communities.

Centrally located at the City Centre.

The Mississauga City Centre campus will offer two and three year undergraduate programs in Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, and Banking and Wealth Management. Post-graduate programs will include Human Resources Management, Marketing Management, Project Management, and Financial Management.
