The Sheridan School of Business Convocation 2009 capped the academic year for more than 1000 graduates from more than 20 disciplines and programs in the school. Beaming Sheridan School of Business students and their equally proud parents filled Hammerson Hall at the Mississauga Living Centre recently to march in pomp and circumstance and celebrate their graduation from Sheridan College.
The annual spring event marks the end to studies – for the moment – at Sheridan College and the embarkation of new directions and career paths for Sheridan graduates.
Sheridan Business graduates packed the Mississauga Living Arts Centre for Sheridan’s 2009 School of Business Convocation ceremonies ready embrace the new freedom, the new opportunities, and the new responsibilities graduation brings.
The new graduates were warmly applauded by family and friends as they crossed the stage to receive their Sheridan College School of Business diploma.
Emotion filled the room as Sheridan Business faculty warmly congratulated their new graduates.
The 2009 Sheridan Business Convocations featured keynote speakers included James Milway, Executive Director of The Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity who spoke to our graduates about the need to re-define the world that they will work in. He talked about the need to build new prosperity.
Popular business broadcaster Lou Schizas preached the new philosophy of entrepreneuerism to the graduates, challenging them to be unsatisfied with just a job and urging them to find new areas of growth and possibility and to exploit them as part of the new economy.
The Financial Post’s Diane Francis, awarded with an honorary degree, spoke to our Sheridan School of Business graduates of humble beginnings, expounding how she began her career in journalism at Sheridan College, made her own connections in the industry, kept moving ahead and never looked back.
